In 1996, the Ålesund-based band Mighty P stood on the verge of their big breakthrough. Three decades later, they are finally back to claim their place in the Norwegian rock landscape, blending nostalgia with a modern, massive soundscape.

The story of Mighty P began at the school desks in the early '90s. As part of the explosive Norwegian grunge wave, they released the albums Scratching One’s Backs (1992) and Hide (1996), making a name for themselves with a performance at the UKM national finals and at the legendary Bootleg venue in Oslo. When industry veteran Larry Bringsjord offered the band a record deal in 1996, the quintet made a choice few rock bands ever do: they turned it down, prioritized their education, and put their band dreams on hold.

Now, 30 years after that monumental decision, their friendship and creative joy are stronger than ever. The circle is complete with a new record deal with Bergen-based Apollon Records. Mighty P anno 2026 is a band that has retained the raw energy of their youth, but now carries the weight of a lived life.

Musically, the band draws inspiration from the Big Three of Seattle: Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam. The result is melodic, heavy grunge that isn't afraid to dwell on the darker sides of existence. The lyrics explore mental health, politics, and human value in a modern society that has moved far away from the boundless freedom the band experienced in the '90s.

For their first album in three decades, Mighty P sought help from the best in the business. The album was recorded at Black Valley Studio with producer and "audio god" Nick Terry behind the mixing desk. The final touches were added in the US by Mikey Allred (known for his work with All Them Witches), ensuring a soundscape that is both timeless and highly current.
